Ruth A. Borland

Florence, NJ- Ruth A. Borland, 83, formerly of Bordentown City, died Sunday at Samaritan Inpatient Hospice at Virtua Memorial. She had resided most of her life in Bordentown, and was a crossing guard in Bordentown City for 33 years, where she received an honorary award for her outstanding service. Ruth also served lunch at Herman's Tavern for over 30 years. She was a member of the first Baptist Church of Bordentown, and the Johnson Memorial Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps, and was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxilary of Bordentown Elks Lodge #2085 and American Legion Post #26.

Daughter of the late Nathanial and Estella Estilow, and wife of the late Floyd Borland, she is survived by son Lonnie Purks and special friend Barbara of WA, daughter Ruth Ann Hensley of Bordentown, daughter Helen Mae Dixon of Florence, son George Purks and wife Linda of OH.; step-daughters and their husbands Donna and Jim Scott, and Bonnie and Tony Benedetto, all of NJ; sister Gertrude Tyler of Burlington; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. The funeral will be Thursday at 12 Noon from the Huber-Moore Funeral Home, 517 Farnsworth Avenue, Bordentown with interment to follow in Beverly National Cemetery.
