Rita E. Carty

Columbus- Rita E. Carty, 89, of Columbus died Wednesday, May 23rd at Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills. She was born in Columbus and was a lifelong resident and homemaker. She attended the Chesterfield Baptist Church and was a member of Mansfield Township Senior Citizens. She was an active volunteer for Deborah Heart and Lung for many years and she was also an active member in the 4-H Club leader. She knitted and donated caps for newborn babies at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly. The daughter of the late Raymond and Leah Hay Wainwright, sister of the late Grace Reed and Charles Wainwright, grandmother of the late Nancy Carty, she is survived by her husband of 70 years E. Lloyd Carty of Columbus, one son and daughter-in-law Ron and Betty Carty of Columbus, two daughters and two sons-in-law, Diane and Don Longstreet of Columbus, and Donna and Don Applegate of Columbus, One sister Ruth Lippincott of Columbus, five grandchildren, Donna Carty-Pettit, Ron Carty, Jr., Beth Litus, Amy Reinhart, and Susan Potanovich. Eight great-grandchildren Nancy, Craig, Morgan, Kaitlynn, Clint, Brice, Blair and Ryan. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 29th at 11:00 am at the Huber-Moore Funeral Home, 517 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown with burial to follow at Columbus Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday evening from 6-8 pm and Tuesday from 10am until the time of service at the funeral home.
